The new Mr and Mrs S - A Wedding at Botley Hill Barn 15/05/2022
Last Sunday we were at Botley Hill Barn to celebrate the wedding of the new Mr and Mrs “A”. A wedding that had been rearranged previously due to covid, it was a long time coming.
We arrived at 5 o’clock in our usual fashion of being silly early, just incase and set up our selfie pod. This went down a treat by the way, it was busy all night, and we ended up sending the happy couple over 600 images the day after.
This was our first time at Botley Hill, and let me tell you, it is a perfect wedding venue. If you are looking for a barn venue with amazing views, look no further, honestly. I have worked in lots of barns over the years and Botley is one of the nicest by far. The views from outside the front of the barn are beautiful, the staff are extremely helpful and friendly and the space its self is perfect for a party.
The music
Weddings are famously chaotic and never run exactly to plan, speeches over ran a little which meant we were late starting, but once we got going, there wasn’t an empty dancefloor all night. Mr and Mrs A had used our playlist system and loved pop and cheese, so that is what we gave them. The playlist contained everything from ABBA to TLC and the first dance was S Club 7. We played everything from insomnia by faithless to lets twist again by chubby checker.
Everybody loved the music selection and this gig was a perfect reminder for me of why I love doing weddings.
We always have a meeting a few weeks before the wedding with every client and tailor their music and night to THEM and this is exactly what we did.
We worked the dancefloor solidly until the last song, which is actually one of my favourite last songs – You’ve got the love – Florence and The Machine – Candi Staton remix. During this song the bride and groom danced together in the middle of all of their closest friends of family and got a round of applause to finish the night on a bang
